Private Residence
Location : North Hero, Vermont
Progress : Completed
JRMA Design Studio reimagined an existing residence in North Hero, Vermont through a careful renovation and strategic expansion that balances privacy, family growth, and shared living. The project introduces a series of small detached guest suites organized around an updated pool terrace, transforming the outdoor space into a central social and spatial anchor for the property.
The original home was retained and refined, while the new additions extend the program outward in a loose constellation of pavilions. Each guest suite is designed to function independently, offering a quiet and private retreat for visiting family members and, in time, for the children as they grow into their own spaces. This incremental approach allows the property to evolve naturally with the family’s changing needs.
At the center of the composition, the pool becomes both gathering point and visual focus, linking the detached structures through landscape and sightlines rather than rigid geometry. Views toward the surrounding Vermont landscape are preserved and framed, reinforcing a strong connection between architecture, water, and site. The result is a modest, adaptable compound that prioritizes long-term family use, outdoor living, and a relaxed relationship between built form and landscape.
