Pine & Flynn| 2015
Location : Burlington, Vermont
Progress : Completed
Michael Alvanos, as part of JRMA Design Studio and in collaboration with Redstone of Vermont, played a key role in advancing a meaningful change to the Burlington Development Ordinance, helping enable the first multi-family residential building along the Pine Street corridor in over 30 years.
Early preliminary work by JRMA Design Studio was instrumental in supporting the zoning amendment and demonstrating the feasibility of reintroducing housing to this evolving district. While the final design was later reimagined, the foundational vision and initial design framework were established by JRMA. The completed Redstone building at the corner of Pine Street and Flynn Avenue includes approximately 30 residential units, with a mix of studios and one-bedroom apartments ranging from roughly 330 to 900 square feet, and an estimated total building area in the range of 20,000 to 25,000 square feet.
The project reflects a modern, context-sensitive approach to urban infill, contributing to the continued transformation of the corridor into a more vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood.
